FRANCES M. WITT

AKRON, Iowa—Frances Marie Witt, 88, of Akron, died Friday, Dec. 8, 1995, at the Akron Care Center after a brief illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron with the Rev. Allen Bidne officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m., at the Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.

Mrs. Witt was born June 11, 1907, at Marathon in Buena Vista County, the daughter of William F. and Lillie D. (Ricke) Smith. She was raised in the Marathon area until moving east of Akron. She graduated from Marathon High School in 1924 and Iowa State Teachers College at Cedar Falls in 1925. She taught in the Preston township country school for four years. She married Albert C. Witt Jan. 26, 1929, in Akron. The couple retired to Akron in 1977. He died Nov. 19, 1981.

Mrs. Witt was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Akron, the Rural Home Culture Club, and WELCA of the church.

Survivors include a son, Robert and his wife, Joyce of Rock Rapids; a sister, Edith Ebersole of Storm Lake; two grandchildren, Bryan and Bradley Witt; and five great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Richard; three brothers, Harold, William and Oliver; three sisters, Myrtle, Gladys and Helen; and one great granddaughter.

Pallbearers will be Charles Egeland, Greg Ebersole, James Radcliffe, Roger Frerichs, John Luschen Jr., and Marlin Harms.
