Obituary:
Elsie I. Wickey, 75, of Sioux City died unexpectedly Friday, Nov. 22, 1996, at her residence.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. A. T. Washington officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Wickey was born Feb. 24, 1921, in Westfield, Iowa, the daughter of Elmer and Goldie (Godfrey) Hoffman. She married Edwin A. Wickey on Jan. 18, 1941, in Sioux City. He died Nov. 15, 1981, in Sioux City.
She was employed as a nursing assistant at St. Vincent Hospital prior to her marriage, then she worked at the Lipman’s Department Store for several years.
Mrs. Wickey was a member of the Cherished Teddy Club and was avid in craft shows.
Survivors include three sons, Jim and his wife Karen of Bellevue, Nev., Jerry and Jay and his wife Cherrie all of Sioux City; four daughters and their husbands, Judy and Patrick McGuire of Brighton, Colo., Janet and William Broer of Glendale, Ari., Joan and Cecil Butts of Sioux City, and Julie “Puggie” and Kenneth Mosier of Sergeant Bluff; two brothers, Elmer Jr. of Sioux City and Harold of Strasburg, Colo.; one half-sister, Lila Gude of Sioux City; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth Hassett and Loretta; and one daughter-in-law, Nancy.
Pallbearers will be Jim and Jack Ring, Nathan Longwell, Craig Wickey, Dale Elgert, and Richard Knutson.
