OCCUPATION: He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. Following his discharge, he returned to LeMars and was employed with First National Bank. He received his teaching certificate from Westmar College in LeMars. He taught at Melbourne (Iowa) High School from 1957 to 1959, and at Sioux City Heelan High School from 1959 to 1961. In 1961 he joined his father and was co-owner of LeMars Transfer Co., retiring in 1994.
MEMBER OF: St. James Catholic Church, LeMars, IA; Knights of Columbus, Trinity Council 1466, American Legion Wasmar Post 241, where he was a former commander, and Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was a former member of LeMars Lions Club. He served as president of Gehlen Band Association from 1978 to 1979. He was a former member of Iowa High School Athletic Association. He refereed high school football, softball, baseball, basketball and wrestling.
SURVIVORS: …include his wife; three daughters, Julie Wolbers of Clinton, Iowa, Pat Pattison of Sioux City and also a daughter, Lori.
