KINGSLEY, Iowa -- Verlyn Wenzel, 73, of Kingsley died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2001, at his residence following a lengthy illness.
Services will be 4 p.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church in Kingsley, with the Rev. Paul Evans officiating. Burial will be in Kingsley Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Earnest and Michaelson Funeral Home in Kingsley.
Verlyn was born Feb. 8, 1928, in rural Kingsley, the son of Ray Wenzel and Veda Miller Dalton. He lived west of Kingsley and attended rural schools.
He married Charlotte C. Schuldt on May 6, 1947, in Kingsley. They lived on a farm west of Kingsley for several years before moving into Kingsley. Charlotte died July 6, 1993, at Little Spirit Lake, Minn.
Survivors include a son and his wife, Eugene and Danita; three daughters, Pauline, Rosie, and Roxie and her husband Steve; a brother, Marlin "Babe" Wenzel; two sisters, Geraldine and Beverly; 13 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Neal.
Memorials may be directed to Siouxland Hospice.
