OCCUPATION: He was raised in Hospers, Iowa, where he was employed with his father and uncle at Verschoor Meats in Hospers. He was then employed with Wells Dairy in LeMars, Iowa. The couple lived in Auburn and Sheldon, Iowa, before moving to Sioux City in 1952. He was employed with various meat packing plants in Sioux City. In 1969, the couple moved to Nevis, Minn., where they owned and operated In We Go Resort until 1974. They returned to Sioux City in 1978.

SURVIVORS: …include his wife; a son and his wife, Donald L. Jr and Susan of Sioux City; four daughters, Patricia Besett of Sioux City, Barbara Verschoor of Sioux City, Gloria and her husband Marvin Brincks of Alta Vista, Iowa, and Debora and her husband Roger Plumley of Nevis; three brothes and their wives, Irving and Dorothy of Minnesota, Bernard and Judy of Sioux City and Tony and Joanne of Fort Madison, Iowa; two sisters, Anna Peterson of Sioux City and Florence and her husband, Bill Kwikkel of Sioux City; nine grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
PRECEDED in DEATH by: …a sister, two brothers and a grandson, Thomas Michael Besett.
