SANBORN, Iowa -- Kathryn Snyder, 95, of Sanborn passed away Thursday, Dec. 9, 2004, at Prairie View Nursing Home in Sanborn.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Sanborn. Burial will be in St. Cecilia's Catholic Cemetery, Sanborn. Visitation will begin noon Monday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a Scripture wake service at 7 p.m., at Sanborn Funeral Home in Sanborn.

Kathryn H. (Treinen) Snyder, the daughter of Joseph and Margaret (Lehnertz) Treinen, was born on March 20, 1909, in rural Remsen, Iowa. She was raised in the Remsen area and received her education at St. Mary's Catholic School, graduating in 1927.

On Feb. 9, 1932, she was united in marriage to Oliver B. "Dad" Snyder at Remsen and to this union eight children were born. Following their marriage, Dad and Kathryn began farming near Sanborn in 1934 and continued doing so until his retirement in 1969. Kathryn entered the Prairie View Nursing Home in Sanborn in April of 1993.

Kathryn was a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Sanborn.

Survivors include her children, Gary and Avis of Burlington, Iowa, Phil and Jean of Sanborn, Donna and Ray Murray of Charles City, Iowa, Stan and Donna of rural Fostoria, Iowa, Lee and Gaynette of Riceville, Iowa, Wayne and Barbara of Kansas City, Mo., Mary and Jack Rohrs of Henderson, Nev. and Ann and Rich Trigg of Grand Junction, Colo.; 37 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; a brother, Claude and his wife, Anita, of Elrose, Canada; a sister, Elizabeth O'Leary, of Utica, Mich.; three sisters-in-law, Sylvia Treinen of Le Mars, Iowa, Bernice Treinen of Remsen and Leota Treinen of Coralville, Iowa; other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; seven brothers, Raymond, in infancy, Albert, Leonard, Edmund, Francis, Lewis and LeRoy; and two sisters, Helen, in infancy, and Blanche Collins.
