Rita M. Sabo, 78, of Sioux City died Monday, March 21, 2005, at a Sioux City nursing home.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Nativity Catholic Church, with the Rev. Gerald Feierfeil officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 to 9 p.m. Monday, with the family present 4 to 5 p.m. and 6:30 to 8 p.m., a Confraternity of Christian Mothers rosary at 4:30 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 7 p.m., at Larkin Morningside Funeral Home.
Rita was born on Nov. 24, 1926, in Akron, Iowa, the daughter of John and Stella (McGiffney) Nason. She was raised in the Westfield, Iowa, area and graduated from Westfield High School in 1944. She moved to Sioux City after graduation and went to work for Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. She worked at the phone company for 37 years.
On June 18, 1949, she married Raymond E. Sabo in Sioux City. Mr. Sabo died on April 17, 1998.
She was a longtime member of Church of the Nativity and Confraternity of Christian Mothers at the church. She was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America. After she and her husband retired, the couple enjoyed traveling and seeing different parts of the world. She also enjoyed making afghans.
Survivors include a brother, John T. Nason of Jefferson, S.D.; and nieces and nephews.
A memorial has been established in her name for Hospice of Siouxland and for Nativity Catholic Church.
