HINTON, Iowa -- Carl Warren Schreiber, 79, of rural Hinton died Monday, Dec. 17, 2001, at his residence after a several-month illness.

Private services were held. Arrangements were under the direction of Larkin Northside Funeral Home in Sioux City.

Mr. Schreiber was born May 11, 1922, in Pennington County, S.D., the son of Henry and Anna (Pippert) Schreiber. He was raised in the Wall, S.D., area and graduated from high school in Quinn, S.D. After high school, he joined the U.S. Army during World War II. He was stationed in China, Burma and India.

He married Celia Harrison on Feb. 14, 1951, in Pierre, S.D. They moved to a farm in rural Hinton in 1951, and had been farming there since.

He was of the Lutheran faith.

Survivors include his wife, Celia of Hinton; a daughter, Melody Schreiber of Sioux City; and two sisters and their husbands, Gertrude and John Storkle of Kansas City, Kan., and Karoline and Bill Pecka of Saratoga, Calif.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Egar; and two sisters, Arle Watson and Evangeline Hartman.
