Hilda G. Schoenfelder

Hilda Gertrude Schoenfelder, 82, of Westfield,
Iowa, died Sunday, December 19, 1999 at St. Luke's Medical
Center, Sioux City, Iowa.

Services were held on Wednesday, December 22
1999 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, in Akron, with Msgr.
Richard Zenk officiating.

Burial was in the St. Joseph's Cemetery in Akron. Schroeder
Funeral Home, Akron, was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Schoenfelder was born November 5, 1917 at
Parkston, S.D., the daughter of Edward and Anna
(Germscheid) Thelen. She was raised in the Parkston area
and attended school there.

She married Sylvester Schoenfelder on November 21,
1938 in Parkston, S.D. The couple moved to Akron in 1938
where they farmed and then moved to Westfield in 1948.

Mr. Schoenfelder died in 1989.

Mrs. Schoenfelder continued to live in the Westfield area.
She was a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church
where she was active in the council of Catholic Women and
the St. Joseph's Guild. She volunteered for the American
Cancer Society and was a hospice volunteer.

Survivors include two daughters, Winifred Touney of
Fort Dodge, Iowa and Mary Christine Schoenfelder of
Colorado Springs, Colo.; four sons, Kenneth and his wife,
Kathy of Winsted, Minn., Jerome and his wife, Tony of
Akron, Edward of Westfield, and Ronald and his wife, Kate
of Bradenton, Fl.; 26 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren;
two sisters, Marian Hartman of Sioux Falls, S.D.,
and Bernice Wedmore of Gladbrook, Iowa; and three
brothers, Virgil and Jerome Thelen both of Mitchell, S.D.,
and Victor Thelen of Mt. Vernon, S.D.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband;
her daughter-in-law, Kay; and son-in-law, Duane.
