JAMES WENHAM

James Wenham, an employee of the street department in LeMars for thirty years, passed away at the Cherokee State hospital on April 14, 1953.

Mr. Wenham was born October 25, 1861, at Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. He came to Plymouth County in 1888 and had resided here 47 years. He had been a patient at the hospital for five months. His home was at 235 – 4th Ave. N.W. in LeMars.

Funeral services were held at Luken’s funeral home in LeMars on Thursday, April 16, 1953, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. H.V. Bartz officiating at last rites. Burial was in the city cemetery under the direction of Luken’s.

Mrs. Karl Schultz accompanied her husband as he sang “Rock of Ages” and “Abide With Me.” Pallbearers were Art Hansen, Henry Remer, Chris Miller, Lester Dorr, Henry Heidbrink, Ray Claussen.

Survivors include a daughter, Amy, of LeMars and a brother, Charles of Sioux Falls.
