James Carel, 83 years of age and a pioneer farmer of Lincoln Township, died in his home at LeMars, Friday, March 13.
The deceased was born September 21, 1852, at Plattville, Wis. In the year of 1878 he moved to Plymouth County where he has lived since. On November 29, 1882, he was united in marriage to Mary Britt in St. Joseph's Church in LeMars.
Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. George Sitzmann, Kingsley; Mrs. Will J. Sullivan, LeMars; Mrs. Ed Sitzmann, Hinton; Mrs. Harold Carr, Cincinnati, Ohio; and Fern Carel, Waterloo, Iowa; three sons, William T., LeMars; James S., Hinton, Iowa; and Bernard J., at home. There are 30 grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Monday morning at nine o’clock from St. James church, LeMars, with Rev. L.J. Cooper officiating. Interment was made in St. Joseph’s cemetery, Lincoln Township.
