Armella Loesche, 93, of Remsen, died Monday, Feb. 2, 2009, at Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen.
Armella Loesche was born Dec. 18, 1915, at rural Remsen, the daughter of Joe and Mary (Bohlke) Bunkers. Armella was raised in the Remsen area and received her education at St. Mary Catholic School in Remsen. She then worked on the Bunkers Dairy Farm prior to her marriage to Gilbert Loesche on April 12, 1939, at Remsen. They farmed near Remsen until retiring on the farm in 1988. During her time on the farm she had an egg route delivering farm fresh eggs for many years. Gilbert died April 29, 1997.
She remained on the farm until 2002, when she moved into Remsen. She had been a resident of Happy Siesta since July 2008.
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Christian Women's Guild. She enjoyed having company over, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She loved doing crossword puzzles, watching TV and talking with her friends on the phone.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Ellen and her husband Larry Ruden of Remsen; five grandchildren and their spouses, Scott and Caryn Ruden, Steve and Shelly Ruden, all of Remsen, Stacey and Rick Schroeder of Le Mars, Susan and Chad Tentinger of Remsen, and John and Val Ruden of Omaha, Neb.; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Dale and his wife Mary Bunkers of Granville; two sisters-in-law, Esther Bunkers and Ginger Bunkers, both of Remsen; seven godchildren, Linda Dempsey of Mammoth Lake, Calif., Meredith Scott of Cleghorn, Laurie Jungers of Granville, Dick Bunkers of Bell Aire, Mich., Bonnie Arens of Remsen, Mary Ann Kestel of Marcus, and Karen Dorr of Le Mars; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters and their husbands, Marina and Sylvester Kobberman and Doris and Paul Kestel; four brothers, Cletus and his wife Adeline Bunkers, LeRoy and his wife Ruth Bunkers, Vernon Bunkers and Louie Bunkers.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Remsen with the Rev. Paul Eisele officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery in Remsen. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Thursday. There will be a vigil prayer service at 3 p.m. and a parish rosary at 7:30 p.m., by the St. Mary's Christian women's guild, all at the Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen.
Casketbearers will be Scott Ruden, Steve Ruden, John Ruden, Chad Tentinger, Rick Schroeder, Justin Ruden and Brandon Ruden.
