MRS. HENRY BURKARD

Mrs. Henry Burkard, 64, 917 First Ave. SE, died Friday (Feb. 9, 1973) at Sioux City St. Joseph Mercy hospital after a brief illness.

Mrs. Burkard, a housewife, had resided in LeMars all her life except from 1958 to 1969 when she had lived at Storm Lake.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Christian Mothers.

The former Catherine A. Ruether, she was born Dec. 31, 1908, in LeMars, the daughter of the late Theodore and Theresa (Deters) Ruether.

She and Henry Burkard were united in marriage Feb. 12, 1930, in LeMars.

Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 12, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, LeMars, with Rev. Dale Reiff officiating.

Burial was in Calvary Cemetery under the direction of the Luken-Johnson Funeral Home.

Parish rosary was recited at 8 p.m. Sunday with Christian Mothers rosary at 4 p.m. Sunday.

Survivors are her husband, Henry of LeMars; three sons, Ronald and Robert, both of LeMars, and Brother Christopher of Perrysburg, Ohio; two brothers, Ted Ruether of LeMars and Henry Ruether of Sioux City; three sisters, Mrs. Lena Rolfes, Mrs. Glen (Margaret) Brown and Mrs. Regina Harris, all of LeMars; and 11 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.
