Mrs. Chris Miller, Wife of Former Mayor
Dead at 85Mrs. Chris Miller, 85, 525 Lee Drive, LeMars, wife of one time LeMars mayor, Chris Miller, died Saturday (Jan. 13, 1973) at Floyd Valley Hospital after an illness of several years.
She had been a patient at the hospital the last four weeks.
Lillian L. Miller was born Dec. 16, 1887, in Spink County, S.D., the daughter of the late Fredrick and Wilhelmina (Schroeder) Steinheuser.
She and Chris Miller were married June 23, 1926, in LeMars. Mrs. Miller came to LeMars in 1903 and had lived here since that time.
Mrs. Miller was a member of the First United Methodist church, a 52-year member of LeMars Order of Eastern Star and was very active in the St. Paul German Methodist church having played the organ there and taught Sunday School.
Funeral services were Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist church with Rev. Milo Morris officiating.
Eastern Star services were held Sunday at 8 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
Burial was in LeMars Memorial Cemetery under the direction of the Mauer funeral home.
Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Harriet and Anna, and three brothers, August, Herman, and Louis.
She is survived by her husband, Chris of LeMars, and a brother, Otto C. Steinheuser, of Pratt, Kan., and nieces and nephews.
