Cecilia M. Vondrak, 92, of rural Sioux City died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005, at Indian Hills Nursing and Rehab Center following a brief illness.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Michael's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Timothy Hogan officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Cecilia Vondrak was born Oct. 6, 1912, in the home of her parents, Frank and Kate (Trauner) Beaulieu of rural Merrill, Iowa. She graduated from Cathedral High School and later taught country school for two years.

She was united in marriage with Lawrence Vondrak on July 10, 1934, at Ellendale Catholic Church. Mr. Vondrak died May 11, 1996, in Sioux City. The couple farmed in Plymouth County. Cecilia was a devoted wife, homemaker and loving mother of four.

She was a member of St. Michael's Church, a 4-H leader for several years for the Perry Pals 4-H Club, always enjoying working with the girls and their projects for the fair, with cooking and sewing her favorite pastimes. After the death of her husband, Cecilia continued to enjoy reading, working with her flowers and spending time with her family.

She entered Indian Hills Nursing & Rehab Center in November of 2004. She was well loved by the staff for her loving ways and always showed appreciation for all the things everyone did for her. She showered her family and friends with love and will be deeply missed.

Cecilia leaves behind many loved ones, four children, Delores of Elk Point, S.D., Mary Shull and her husband, Don, of Le Mars, Iowa, Larry and his wife, Peg, of Sioux City, and Julie Hartman and her husband, John, of Omaha, Neb.; seven grandchildren, Pam Rust and her husband, Mike, of Storm Lake, Iowa, Lori Plendl and her husband, Chris, of Sioux City, Bruce Shull and his wife, Kristina, of Bothell, Wash., David Vondrak and his wife, Stace,y of Pueblo, Colo., and Dan, Katie and Rachel Hartman of Omaha; great-grandchildren, Ryan Rust, Madison Rust, Justin Plendl, Taylor Plendl, Brandon Vondrak, Hannah Vondrak and Jonah Shull; a brother, Vernon Beaulieu; a sister, Eileen Frisch of Sioux City; sister-in-laws, Dorothy Windeshausen and her husband, Norm, of Norfolk, Neb., and Teresa Vondrak of Le Mars; and numerous nieces and nephews, who each had a special place in her heart.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lawrence; brothers, Harold, Albert and Sylvester Beaulieu; sisters, Viola Beaulieu, Mayme DeRocher, Esther Gorman and Iona Schindel; and grandchildren, in infancy, Mary Teresa Shull and Cheryl Ann Vondrak.

Pallbearers will be Bruce Shull, David Vondrak, Justin Plendl, John Hartman, Ryan Rust and Mike Rust.
