LARRABEE, Iowa—Alma Maggie Anna Schiltz, 86, of Larrabee died Tuesday, March 23, 1999, at Sioux Valley Hospital in Cherokee, Iowa, following a lengthy illness.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Remsen, Iowa, with the Rev. Craig Miller, officiating. Burial will be in Remsen City Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Moeller Funeral Home in Remsen.
Mrs. Schiltz was born July 30, 1912, near Remsen, the daughter of Herman H. and Lena (Matthiesen) Christopherson. She was raised on a farm near Remsen. She moved with her family into Remsen as a child. She attended country school in Henry Township and in Remsen.
She married John H. Bjork in 1934 in Remsen. The couple farmed in the Remsen area. He died Dec. 13, 1945. She married Elmer Schiltz on Feb. 14, 1950. The couple moved to a farm near Remsen. He died Sept. 9, 1970. She lived in LeMars, Iowa, for 12 years. She then moved to Okoboji, Iowa, retiring to Larrabee five years ago.
She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Survivors include a son and his wife, Robert W. and Marilyn Bjork of Larrabee; a daughter-in-law and her husband, Eilene and Jerry Rolling of Oyens, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Dawn, Russell and Pam Bjork, Terri Todd, Dennise Kraft, Brian and Bruce Rolling; 18 great grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Orren Kemp of LeMars; two stepsisters, Eunice Berkquist of Leeds, Iowa, and Frances Church of Omaha, Neb.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Russell Bjork in infancy and Dennis Lee Bjork; a brother, Lawrence Christopherson; a sister, Leona Kemp; a granddaughter, Brenda Bjork.
