Clyde A. Overman, 57, 380 12th St. S.E., longtime tailor at Bowers Clothing, died Saturday (April 8, 1972) at Floyd Valley hospital after an extended illness.
Mr. Overman was a lifelong Le Mars; resident and had been a tailor at Bowers Clothing since 1941 except while serving with the navy during World War 2.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. James Catholic church with Rev. John Turza officiating. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery under direction of the Luken-Johnson funeral home. Pallbearers will be Jim Bowers, Ken Burkett, Ray Kass, Ray Barthole, Dick Moir and Bill Traufler.
Mr. Overman was born Aug. 25, 1914, in Le Mars, a son of the late Joe and Edna (Ivey) Overman. He married Helen Kliegl, June 1, 1937, in Le Mars. She died Aug. 10, 1970. He then married Valerie Truehe Dec. 24, 1970, at Spirit Lake. Mr. Overman was a member of St. James Catholic church, Wasmer Post 241, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Helen and a brother Bud.
Survivors are his wife Valerie of Le Mars; five sons, Robert of Encinitas Calif., Dennis of Sante Fe, N.M., Clyde, Paul and James, all of Le Mars; a stepson, Russell Olson of Los Angeles, Calif.; five daughters, Mrs. Marlin (Maureen) Haack and Mrs. Roland (Barbara) Detloff, both of Le Mars, Mrs. Larry (Patricia) Olson of Sioux City, Mrs. James (Mary) Hall of Air Force Academy; Colo. and Mrs. Steven (Alice) Wood of Des Moines; a brother, Richard of Carmichael, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Ross (Helen) Mallette of Le Mars and Mrs. Gary (Mary) VanDenBerg of Sioux Center and 12 grandchildren.
