Retired to Rapid City

Funeral services for John Dempster, 68, of Rapid City, S.D., a retired rancher, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Mauer funeral home. Mr. Dempster died Monday following a heart attack.

The Rev. H.V. Bartz will conduct the services at the Mauer funeral home and burial will be in the city cemetery.

Mr. Dempster, who was born and reared in Plymouth County, had lived in or near Rapid City for the past 35 years. He moved to Fairbury, S.D., in 1910 and operated a ranch for many years before retiring and moving to Rapid City.

The son of John and Phoebe Dempster, he was born May 19, 1882, in Plymouth County.

He is survived by three brothers and seven sisters: William, Neligh, Neb., Henry and Robert, LeMars; and Mrs. Jennie Scott, Plainview, Neb., Miss Ellen Dempster, Mrs. Elizabeth Reeves, Mrs. Bertha Tucker and Mrs. Mabel Featherston, all of LeMars, Mrs. Laura Featherston, Oak Park, Ill., and Mrs. Marion Kiest, Wheaton, Ill.
