John Mayrose, 30, of North Liberty, and formerly of Le Mars died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008, in a traffic accident near the Marengo interchange on I-80.

John Douglas Mayrose was born Aug. 27, 1978, in Le Mars, the son of Doug and Karen (Beaulieu) Mayrose. He grew up in Le Mars and graduated from Le Mars Community High School in 1997 and from Loras College in Dubuque in 2002 with a degree in sports marketing. John was currently living in North Liberty and was employed with Voss Distribution.

He enjoyed hunting with his faithful companion, Sosa; fishing; hiking though the fields; and playing softball. His most recent accomplishment was completing the Des Moines Marathon with his good friend Joe.

He loved spending time with Sarah, family, friends and his dogs.

Survivors include his parents, Doug and Karen Mayrose of Le Mars; a sister, Jamie Mayrose of Phoenix, Ariz.; a younger brother, Jeff Mayrose of Des Moines; his true love, Sarah Day of North Liberty; two dogs, Sosa and Mya; paternal grandparents, John and Margaret Mayrose of Le Mars; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many good friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Bill Beaulieu and Doris Staebell; an aunt, Kim Beaulieu; and an uncle, Donnie Mayrose.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars with the Rev. James Tigges officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. today (Friday) at St. James Catholic Church where there will be a parish rosary at 4 p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m. There will also be visitation at the church one hour prior to the funeral. The Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars is assisting the family with arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Joe Susemihl, Matt Susemihl, Brandon Swift, Erik Matzen, David Brown and Richard Schroeder.
