LEONARD WINTER PASSES AWAY IN CHICAGO

Leonard A. Winter, 50, of Chicago and native son of Hinton, passed away Monday night in a Chicago hospital following a weeks illness.

Mr. Winter was born February 26, 1902, at Hinton, where he spent his youth. After graduating from college he went to Pella, Iowa, where he was a popular basketball coach for a number of years. He was also a basketball coach in a college at Dubuque, Iowa, for some time. He went to Chicago about 10 years ago where he has since resided, and was an auditor of the Sherman hotel.

Survivors include his mother, Mrs. E.M. Winter, of Hinton; two daughters, Misses Sally and Sue, both of Chicago; four brothers, F.D. Winter of Hinton, Fred of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Harold of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Ivan of Sioux City; two sisters, Mrs. O.D. Harrison of Hinton and Mrs. D.R. Smith of Iron Mountain, Mich.

Funeral services were held this Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Winter funeral home in Sioux City, with Rev. H. H. Palmer officiating. Burial was in Graceland Park cemetery.
