DATE OF DEATH: Tuesday, Sept. 17, 1996
PLACE OF DEATH: …at a Sioux City hospital
CAUSE OF DEATH: …following a five-month illness
DATE OF BIRTH: Sept. 26, 1923
PLACE OF BIRTH: Mapleton, Iowa
PARENTS: Joseph and Catherine (Mack) Schleis

OCCUPATION: He grew up on a farm near Mapleton and attended St. Mary’s Catholic School. He moved to LeMars in 1943. He served in the US Nave during World War II from April 7, 1945 to Aug. 15, 1946. Following his military service, he was employed with the Plymouth Co-op for many years. Most recently, he was employed with LeMars Ford Mercury until his retirement in 1986.
SURVIVORS: …include two sisters and their husbands, Clara Rhodes and Sumner of Lake Ozark, Mo., and Helen Kilker and George of Oyens; two brothers and their wives, Walter Schleis and Bernice of Struble and Edward Schleis and JoAnn of LeMars; two sisters-in-law, Jean Schleis of LeMars and Ruth Schleis of Rock Valley and numerous nieces and nephews.
PRECEDED in DEATH by: …his parents; two brothers, Lavern and Bill and a nephew, Brian Schleis.
PLACE OF BURIAL: Calvary Cemetery, LeMars, IA
