Richard S. Koerner, 57, Le Mars native and lifelong resident, died Monday (April 25, 1988) at Veteran’s Administration Medical Center, Sioux Falls, after an illness of 1 ½ years.

Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Le Mars Memorial Cemetery. American Legion department Chaplain, Rev. Jack Hebard, will officiate at the military rites conducted by Wasmer Post of Le Mars. Arrangements are by the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home.

Mr. Koerner was born July 28, 1930, in Le Mars to Herbert and Helen Mauer Koerner. He served in the United States Air Force. He was employed as a bricklayer.

Survivors are two brothers, Melvin Koerner of Le Mars and Robert Koerner of Virginia Beach, Va.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Dale, and two sisters, Shirley Cain and Mavis Wellong.
