Lucille S. Husman, 93, of Merrill, died Sunday, Sept. 7, 2008, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars.

Lucille Husman was born June 27, 1915. at the family home in Merrill, the daughter of Andrew C. and Amanda (Karli) Carstensen. Lucille was baptized, confirmed, and married at St. John Lutheran Church in Merrill. She grew up in the Merrill area, and attended Merrill School, graduating in 1933. On Feb. 4, 1936, she married Albert Husman. The couple farmed until 1953 when they moved into Merrill, at which time Albert began working for Plymouth County Highway Department.

Lucille was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church Lois Circle, Senior Citizens, and loved doing crafts, conducting several craft classes. In 1996 she moved into an apartment in Le Mars. She moved to Good Samaritan Society-Le Mars in July 2007.

Survivors include three children, Donald and wife Patricia of Aurora, Colo., Betty Fuller of Le Mars, and Richard and wife Laura of Merrill; eight grandchildren, Michelle O'Roake and husband Charles of Houston, Texas, Michael Husman and wife Kate of Aurora, Colo., Robert Fuller and wife Deb of Merrill, Rebecca Warren of Le Mars, Kelly Husman of Sioux City, Andrew Husman of Pensacola, Fla., Angela Bock and husband Scott of Omaha, Neb., Jennifer Husman of San Diego, Calif.; 10 great-grandchildren, Michael, Melynda and Shelby Campbell of Aurora, Colo., Chaz O'Roake of Houston, Texas, Marcus, Ryan, Jaydan and Dylan Husman of Aurora, Colo., Joshua Fuller and wife Shiela of Brunsville, Nicole Sharp and husband Chris of Merrill; four great-great-grandchildren, Dylan, Meadow, Autumn, Tayler, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, four sisters Marie Hughes, Mabel Hamilton, Leona and Dorothy Carstensen, two brothers Felix Carstensen, Clarence Carstensen; and a granddaughter, Malynda Campbell.

Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. John Lutheran Church in Merrill. The Rev. Peter Boe will officiate. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Merrill. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday) at the Mauer - Johnson Funeral Home of Le Mars. The family will be present from 5 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to the funeral.
