AKRON, Iowa -- Mary E. McIlvenna, 70, of Akron died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2001, at her residence.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Akron, with Monsignor Richard Zenk officiating. Organist will be Jeannie Frerichs with Darryl Broderick and Danielle Seager Frerichs as soloist. Hymns will be "Hail Mary Gentle Woman," "On Eagles Wing" and "How Great Thou Art." Burial will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., a Scripture prayer service at 7 p.m. followed by a rosary, all at Schroeder Funeral Home.
Mary McIlvenna was born Nov. 19, 1930, in Plymouth County, rural Akron, the daughter of E. Clifford and Iva (Belt) Clarey.
She married James V. McIlvenna on Feb. 9, 1951, in Beresford, S.D. Mr McIlvenna preceded her in death in 1984.
Mary McIlvenna was employed as a child care worker and completed her general education degree in 1974.
Mary McIlvenna was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Ladies of St. Joseph's and Beresford Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. In her free time, she loved to play Bingo, listen to music and spend time with family and friends.
Mary McIlvenna is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Nancy and Fred Gonzales of Long Beach, Calif., and Connie and Orin Blake of Akron, with whom she lived with for the past 26 years; a son and his wife, Gerald and Kathy McIlvenna of Aurora, Colo.; three brothers, Bill, L. Clifford and Rob Clarey; three sisters, Phyllis Ludwigs, K. Lavonne Henry and Irene Greenleaf; and nine grandchildren, Eric and Chris Blake, Nathan, Adam, Ryan and Jacquelyn McIlvenna, Jeffery Miller and Andrew and Amber Gonzales.
Mary McIlvenna is also preceded in by her parents and three brothers, Thomas, James and Clarence.
Pallbearers will be Tom, Larry, Dennis, Joe C., William, Terry, Randy, Andy, Mike, Pat, Fred, Ed, John, and Joe Clarey, Rick Eufers, Wayne Henry and J.R. Clarey. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Eric and Chris Blake, Nathan, Adam, Ryan and Jacquelyn McIlvenna, Jeffery Miller and Andrew and Amber Gonzales.
There will be a luncheon served at the church parish hall following the burial.
