Lorne LeRoy Ross

Lome LeRoy Ross, 87, of Akron, IA, died Sunday, September 17,2000, at the Akron Care Center.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, September 20, 2000 at St. Patricks-Catholic Church in Akron, IA with Monsignor Richard Zenk officiating. Burial was in Ellendale Cemetery rural Merrill, IA following a lunch at the Parish Hall. Visitation was from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 19, 2000 with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m. and a scripture prayer service at 8 p.m. at the Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.

Mr. Ross was born September 27,1912 in Merrill, IA, the son of Fred and Gertrude (Thomas) Ross. He married Helen L. Beaulieu November 27,1936 in Ellendale, IA; She preceded him in death in 1958. Mr. Ross then married Velma Kroksh November 28, 1958 in Akron IA.. She preceded him in death in 1974.

Mr. Ross and Helen worked for Boeing Aircraft in California for many years before moving; to Akron: In Akron, he worked as a mechanic for Dirks Motor and Barwick Implement. Mr. Ross was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

Survivors include: Two sons, LeRoy of Hawarden, IA and Joseph of Ojai, CA. One step-son, Marvin Kroksh of Akron. Three step daughters, Florence Gallup of Los Angeles, CA, Dorothy Gagnon of Denver, CO, and Ruth Hoffman of Lawton, IA. Two brothers, Virgil Ross and his wife, Vera, of Westfield, lAand Claude Ross and his wife, Billie, of Yamhill, OR. Two sisters, Helen Johnson and her husband, Harold, of Akron, IA and Cora Jans and her husband, Karl, of Hawarden, IA. Three grandchildren, 20 step grandchildren, two greatgrandchildren, 51 step greatgrandchildren, 13 step great-great- grandchildren.

Preceded in death by one step daughter, LaVerna Jensen, one step grandchild, Doug Hoffman, and three step great grandchildren Luke Kroksh, Brittany Kroksh, and Jason Gagnon.
