OCCUPATION: He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on Sept. 16, 1943, and served during World War II in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. He sailed on the USS Jarvis and attained the rank of Water Tender First Class. He was honorably discharged on May 18, 1946, at the U.S. Naval Center in Great Lakes, Ill. After marriage they lived in LeMars, Iowa. He worked for Gus Pech Manufacturing for 27 years, retiring in May 1990. Mrs. Rollins died July 6, 1977. In 1986 he moved to an acreage west of LeMars.
SURVIVORS: …include two daughters and their husbands, Barbara and Mark Doering of Albuquerque, N.M., and Judy and Steve Robinson, of Lamont, Iowa; two sons, Kevin and his wife, Kathie Rollins of Remsen, Iowa and Joel Rollins of Sioux City; seven grandchildren; four step grandsons; a great granddaughter; a sister and her husband, Phyllis and Colin Coleman of rural Ireton, Iowa; a brother and his wife, John and Mary Rollins of Akron, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Sally Rollins of Hawarden; and a brother-in-law, Lowell Baldwin, of Merrill.
PRECEDED in DEATH by: …his parents; a son, Roger; a daughter, Angie; two brothers, and a sister-in-law, Frank Rollins and Harold and Roberta Rollins; and a sister, Joyce Baldwin.
PLACE OF BURIAL: Hillside Cemetery, Merrill, Iowa
