Cornelius Ludwig
Funeral services for Cornelius Ludwig, 82, a retired farmer who died Friday at his home after suffering a heart attack, were in Remsen at 9:30 a. m. Monday at St. Mary’s Catholic church.
Rt. Rev. Msgr. Frank Schultes officiated and burial was in the church cemetery under the direction of the Fisch funeral home. Mr. Ludwig was born October 16. 1874. in Luxembourg and came to the United States in 1892, settling in Dyersville, Ia. He moved to Remsen in 1896.
He married Mary Peters February 9. 1898, and they farmed in the Remsen vicinity until 1928 when they retired to town.
Survivors are eight daughters. Mrs. Martin Ludwig, Mrs. Leo Gengler, Mrs. Paul Treinen and Mrs. Elmer Schroeder, all of Remsen: Mrs. Al Schilmoeller of Granville: Mrs. Leonard Burlage of Elkton. S.D.: Mrs. Harvey Locer of Kileen, Tex.; and Mrs. Donald Tutt of Primghar: a son. John T. of Elkton, S. D.: four brothers, John T., Martin and Frank, all of Remsen and Michael of Le Mars: three sisters. Mrs. W. J. Tentinger of Remsen, Mrs. Peter Tentinger of Avoca, Minn., and Mrs. John Less of Cascade, Ia.
Deceased was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Arthur Susemihl, in 1955.
Mr. Ludwig was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Luxembourg Brotherhood of America.~LeMars Globe Post of 27 August 1956
