JOHN E. KOCH, 81, OF AKRON SUCCUMBS - FUNERAL TUESDAY
John E. Koch, 81, of Akron died at the Akron hospital Saturday, July 18, after a short illness.
Mr. Koch was born March 5, 1883, east of Akron. He farmed there, after which he lived for seven years in Le Mars and re tired to Akron in February 1963.
His marriage to Louisa Milbrodt took place at the Milbrodt home, Feb. 19, 1908. She preceded him in death in July 1963.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. John Lutheran church, Preston township. Burial will be in the church cemetery under direction of the Lewison-Schroeder funeral home, Akron, where friends may call.
Pallbearers will be six grandsons. Mr. Koch was the grandfather of Roland Schroeder of the Akron funeral home.
- Survivors are five daughters, Mrs. Delia Wilken, Akron, Mrs. Lorena Gabel, Akron; Mrs. Minnie Borchers, Akron; Mrs. Lillian Schroeder, Hartley, and Mrs. Evelyn Radamacher, Rock Island, Ill.; three sons, August of Vancouver; Lt. Comdr. Henry Koch of Bayside, Va.; Rev. Lowell Koch, Iowa City, and two brothers, Emil and Herman of Akron.
A stepsister, Mrs. Mae Ross, Akron; a stepbrother, Fred, Guthrie Center, 33 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Louisa; two sons, Leonard and William, and two brothers, William and Louis; his stepmother and a stepbrother, Dr. George Koch.~LeMars Daily Sentinel of 20 July 1964
