Funeral Services Held Friday For Peter Jepsen, 88
Funeral services for Peter Jepsen, 88, long-time resident of Chatsworth who died Tuesday of last week at the Hawarden hospital following a short illness, were held at 2 o’clock Friday at the Methodist church, Dr G. S. Bruland officiating. Interment was at Grace Hill cemetery under the direction of the Barnard Funeral home.
Hal Shoemaker sang “Going Home” and “The Lard’s Prayer” with Mrs. Ivoran Noe at the organ.
Casket bearers were Stanley Ludwig, Orrin Anderson, Lowell Ludwig, Jack Mclnnis, William Milbrodt and Harold Stephenson.
Mr. Jepsen was born July 10, 1875, in Haderslev, Denmark. At the age of 20 in 1895 he came to the United States.
He marxied Hannah Marie Westergard at Port Richmond, Staten Island, N. Y., July 28, 1895, and they came to Iowa in 1890, farming until 1943 when they moved into Chatsworth. For many years he served as janitor of the school there.
Mr. Jepsen was a member of the First Methodist church in Hawarden. He was preceded in death by a daughter and a grandson.
Survivors include the widow, now residing at the Burnight Nursing home in Hawarden; five daughters. Mrs. Harry Stephenson of Alcester, Mrs. Henry Ludwig of Hawarden, Mrs. Nellie Burnight of Chatsworth, Mrs. Mae Lamoureux of Sergeant Bluff and Mrs. John Mcinnis of Akron; one son. Louis Jepsen of Stanwood. Iowa: nine grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren.
Relatives from out-of-town attending the funeral included Mr. and Mrs. William Milbrodt and daughter of Sleepy Eye, Minn., Mrs. Ida Meile of Madison. S. D., Nels Westergard of Worthington, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Jay Rasmussen of Elk Point, Mr. and Mrs. Orrin Anderson and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Sorenson and son, all of Sioux City.
Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Ludwig of Madison, and Mrs. Stanley Ludwig of rural Aleester, Mr. and Mrs. Jack McInnis of Westfield,
Mrs. Margaret Ronan of Canton, Mr. and Mrs. Chris Westergard of Ireton and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hillrichs of Craig.
