William F. Koch Dies At Age 54
Funeral services for William Koch, 54, who died late Saturday night in the hospital to which he was taken following a severe heart attack in his home in Union county, were held in Trinity Lutheran church of Hawarden at 2 p. m. Wednesday afternoon with Rev. 0. F. Pittaek officiating. Interment was in St. John’s Lutheran church cemetery. Preston township, Plymouth county, with the Barnard Funeral home in charge.
Casket bearers were Ronald Schroeder, Leon Gabel, Dennis Wilken. Eddie Beeck, Jerry Frerichs and Ronald Beeck.
William Koch, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Koch, was born in Plymouth county April 30. 1909. He resided on a farm east of Akron and became a member of St. Johns Lutheran church in that community.
On June 22. 1932, he married Ida Beeck, also of Akron, with Rev. Theodore Meyer of St. John’s Lutheran congregation performing the ceremony. During the next three years he farmed near Adaville, Iowa. and for nine years near Le Mars. In about 1944 he moved to Union county where he farmed two years after which he resided on a farm east of Akron. For two years he lived at Chatsworth and then on a farm east of St. John’s Lutheran church. In 1958 he moved to a farm in Union county and, in that same year, became a member of the local Lutheran congregation
He was preceded in death by a stillborn son in 1933, by his mother Louise, in July 19_3. and by one brother. Leonard.
Survivors include the widow, Ida, two sons, Stanley of Sioux City and Leonard of Vermillion; four grandchildren, his father, John, of Akron; three brothers. August, of Vancouver, Wash. Lt Cmdr. Henry of Baysido. Va., and; Rev. Lowell Koch of Iowa City: five sisters, Delia Wilken of Akron, Lillian Schroeder of Hartley, Lorene Gabel and Minnie Borchers, both of Akron, and Evelyn Rademacher of Rock Island, Illinois.
