Clara Atwood, 97, of Fort Dodge, and a former Le Mars resident, died Feb. 23, 2004.

She was born in Sioux County, on March 21, 1906, to Charles and Marie Larsen McCrory. She was a homemaker, a matron of the Eastern Star, and an avid crafter teaching tatting until she was over 80. She moved to Fort Dodge from Le Mars in 1987 and lived at Friendship Haven.

She is survived by her sons Robert of Marco Island, Fla.; Glenn of Wadsworth, Ohio; grandchildren, Michelle Defano of Buffalo Grove, Ill., Ruth Atwood of Carlisle, Pa., John Atwood of Athens, Ga., Robert Atwood, of Barberton, Ohio; great-grandchildren, Mercedes Defano of Buffalo Grove, Ill., Ty Atwood of Athens, Ga., Ryan Atwood of Barberton, Ohio and EmmaRose Atwood of Carlisle, Pa., as well as two sisters, Blanche Marshall and Jeannette Hammans of Fort Dodge.

A memorial service will be held later. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to "The Friendship Haven Care Fund" at Friendship Haven, 520 Kenyon Rd., Fort Dodge, Iowa 50501.
