PIERSON, Iowa -- Ronald R. Hill, 57, of Pierson died Thursday, June 9, 2005, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Salem Lutheran Church in rural Correctionville, Iowa, with the Rev. Bert Burwell officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Pierson, with military rites. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with the family present after 5 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at Rohde-Earnest Funeral Home in Kingsley, Iowa.

Ron was born March 6, 1948, in Kingsley, Iowa, the son of Albert and Betty (Willer) Hill. He was raised in the Moville, Iowa, area and graduated from Moville High School in 1966. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his tour of duty in Vietnam. After his enlistment, he returned to the Moville area.

On Jan. 8, 1972, he married Kathryn Herbold at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. The couple made their home in Pierson. He worked for 31 years at the Western Co-op Elevator in Pierson.

He was a member of the Pierson city council for six years. He was a member of the Pierson Fire Department for many years and the American Legion in Pierson.

He had a great love for life. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family, especially his loving grandchildren, nieces and nephews. His love of NASCAR and fishing was shared by all who knew him. He took many memorable fishing trips and to NASCAR races shared with family and friends. He enjoyed vacationing at Lake Okoboji with family. He will be greatly missed by everyone.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy of Pierson; a son and his wife, Chad and Amy Hill of Pierson; a daughter and her husband, Alesha and Greg Bracht of Sioux City; three grandchildren, Kayla and Tyler Hill and Ashlyn Bracht; his mother, Betty Hill of Sioux City; three sisters, Vicki Dvorcek of Odessa, Texas, Karry and her husband, Art Willer of Madison, Neb., and Jackie and her husband, Jeff Bremer of Moville, Iowa; a brother and his wife, Tom and Sara Hill of Omaha; his mother-in-law, Jackie Herbold of Pierson; a sister-in-law and her husband, Jana and John Hoppe of Pierson; two brothers-in-law and their wives, Greg and Terri Herbold of Pierson and Bud and Patty Herbold of Correctionville, Iowa; and 19 loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Hill; his father-in-law, Eugene Herbold; a niece, Lauren Herbold; maternal grandparents, Jack and Ada Willer; and paternal grandparents, Benny and Geneva Hill.
