Fredrick Daniel Hewitt, 60, of Sioux City died Monday, Feb. 14, 2005, at his residence following a brief illness with cancer.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Cremation will follow the service Saturday. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Fred was born Nov. 20, 1944, in Akron, Iowa, the son of Albert Leo and Isabell (Stephen) Hewitt. He worked at Floyd Valley Packing Plant for many years. He later worked at Gateway for five years, then repaired computers on his own.

He loved Harley-Davidson motorcycles and memorabilia. He especially loved his children.

Survivors include his wife, Sheila Hewitt; two sons, Dacota and Colorado, both at home; two daughters, Montana and Wyoming, both at home; four children from a previous marriage, Sherry, Brian, Jodi and Laura; a sister and her husband, Ruth and Dan Stroman of Sioux City; three brothers and their wives, Virgil and Karen Hewitt of Hartford, S.D., Roger and Linda Hewitt of Arizona, and Gene and Marilyn Hewitt of Sioux City; many nieces and nephews; and several special friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Vincent.

Honorary pallbearers will be Peter Strom, Mike Price, Curtis Evens, Bill Peters, Dacota Hewitt, Dan Stroman, Vince Stroman, Duane Stroman, Virgil Hewitt, Troy Hewitt and Doug Christiansen.
