BRUNSVILLE, Iowa -- C. Rod Music, 50, of Brunsville died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2003, of injuries suffered in an automobile accident near Vermillion, S.D.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Calvin Christian Reformed Church in Le Mars, Iowa, with the Revs. Norlan Van Beek and Dale Fopma officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars.

Charles Rodney Music was born April 11, 1953, in Paintsville, Ky., to Donald and Lorraine (Bowling) Music. As a young child, he moved to the Grand Rapids, Mich., area. He graduated from Kellogsville High School in 1972. Following high school, he attended a vocational-technical school in Grand Rapids.

He married Mary Baker in 1974, in Sioux Center, Iowa. In 1975 he moved to Maurice, Iowa, was employed with Dyna Tech in Sioux Center and later with Kooima's Manufacturing in Rock Valley, Iowa. He later moved to Hull, Iowa, and established the Pizza Ranch in Luverne, Minn. He began his career with Wells' Dairy in 1992. He worked at the South Ice Cream Plant on the break crew. He moved to Le Mars in 1998.

He was united in marriage to Marilyn Hazel on April 12, 2003, at Calvin Christian Reformed Church. The couple made their home in Brunsville.

He was a member of Calvin Christian Reformed Church and Midwestern Corvette Society in Sioux City. He enjoyed motorcycling, playing the guitar and doing home improvements.

Survivors include his wife, Marilyn of Brunsville; three children, Wendy Frohwein and her husband, Lyle of New Holland, S.D., Ryan Music of Hospers, Iowa, and Stephanie Music and her fiance, Nicholas Zakrzewski of Clear Lake, S.D.; his parents, Donald and Lorraine Music of Byron Center, Mich.; a brother and his wife, Timothy and Sharon Music of Grand Rapids, Mich.; several nieces and nephews; his mother-in-law, Velva Shea of Remsen, Iowa; in-laws, Don and Mary Shea of Le Mars, Barbara Shea, Betty Shea and Kathy and Bob Peterson, all of Des Moines, Pat Brown of Elko, Nev., Geraldine and Sean Peters of Fredericksburg, Va., and Julie Shea of Sioux City; Marilyn's children, Stephannie Fiedler and her husband, Chad of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Nicholas Hazel of Postville, Iowa; two grandsons, Cory and Gregory Frohwein of New Holland, S.D.; and Marilyn's grandsons, Dallas and Shea Fiedler of Council Bluffs.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Pallbearers will be Lyle Frohwein, Nicholas Zakrzewski, Chad Fiedler, Lloyd Wilson, Chris Swanbers and Joe Lehner.
