RITES FOR JOY PERRY—SET FRIDAY AFTERNOON AT PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
Suffered Heart Attack At His Home—Tuesday

Funeral services for Joy Perry, 74, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the First Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at the city cemetery under the direction of Mauer’s funeral home.

Mr. died unexpectedly after suffering a heart attack Tuesday afternoon at his home at 22 ½ Cent. Ave. NE. Funeral arrangements were made today after Mrs. Perry received word that her son, Robert, of Crescent, Calif., would arrive here Thursday.

Joy Bond Perry was born Jan. 27, 1885, at LeMars, the son of the late W.H. and Leona Bond Perry. He was a lifelong resident of LeMars with the exception of five years spent farming, three years in Canada and two in Nebraska.

His marriage to Rena Gaston took place June 28, 1916, at Sioux City.

Mr. Perry had been employed as a bookkeeper for his father in the lumber business and with many firms in LeMars until his retirement several years ago.

Known affectionately to his friends as Hap, Mr. Perry pursued a keen interest in athletics. He played baseball and football while a student at LeMars high school and Iowa State College, Ames, and continued these interests by faithful attendance down through the years as high school and college athletic contests here. Mr. Perry also enjoyed figure skating, a sport he enjoyed well into his middle life.

Mr. Perry was almost a daily caller at the Sentinel office. He delivered the society news items written by Mrs. Perry.

Surviving are his wife, Rena; one son, Robert of Crescent City, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Arthur Wilson, of Los Angeles; three nephews, Dr. H.P. Cunningham of LeMars, William Cunningham of Long Beach, Calif., and Richard Cunningham of Hilton, N.Y., and a nieces, Mrs. Paul Treat, of Los Angeles.
