KINGSLEY, Iowa -- Kenneth H. Hansen, 65, of Kingsley died Monday, Jan. 6, 2003, at his residence following a lengthy illness.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First Lutheran Church in Kingsley, with the Rev. Duane Miesner officiating. Burial will be in Kingsley Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Wednesday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Rohde-Earnest Funeral Home in Kingsley.
Ken was born Jan. 6, 1938, in rural Kingsley, the son of Alfred E. "Stovie" and Erma E. (Grage) Hansen. He grew up in the Kingsley/Pierson area, attending Grand Meadow School and graduating from Kingsley High School in 1956.
He married Betty Ann James in March of 1957. Ken became a welder, opening his own business, Hansen & Sons Welding, in Kingsley. Later, he did contract work for IBP.
On July 29, 1972 he married Beverly Swanson. They lived in Kingsley where he owned and operated his welding business. Beverly died Oct. 31, 1988. Ken continued to live and work in Kingsley until his retirement in 1998.
Ken was a member of First Lutheran Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, ice fishing, boating, camping and having his grandchildren around him to share his hobbies and interests. His friend and companion, a black Labrador dog named Sable, always went along with Ken.
Survivors include two daughters, Twila Van Lent and her husband, Bob of Emerson, Neb. and Michele Plendl and her husband, Ricci of Kingsley; two sons, Clayton Hansen and his wife, Donna of Hubbard, Neb. and Charles Anderson and his wife, Andrea of Grand Rapids, Mich.; a special daughter-like friend, Tanya Riemenschneider of Kingsley; 11 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; two brothers, Merlyn Hansen of Pierson, Iowa, and Leonard Hansen and his wife, Janice of Kingsley; and a sister, Mary Johnson and her husband, Dean of Pierson.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Beverly, he was preceded in death by two sons, John Hansen and John Anderson.
