Erma L. Gross
Erma L. Gross, 83, of Sioux City died Sunday, April 3, 2005, in Le Mars, Iowa.
Services were held April 6 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Erma was born July 11, 1921, in Castana, Iowa, to Clyde and Winnifred (Smothers) Petty. She grew up and attended school in the Ute and Charter Oak, Iowa, area.
On April 22, 1949, she married Philip E. Gross in Denison, Iowa. She was a homemaker and mother in the early years of their marriage until the children were nearly gone. She then began working at St. Vincent's Hospital as a nurses aide for several years.
She enjoyed many things in her life, like sewing, but her real joy was spending time with her loving husband and family. The couple were members of Bethany Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her children and spouses, Richard and Jerri Golden of Hercules, Calif., Gary and Juanita Golden of El Toro, Calif., Ken and Lynda Gross of Dakota City, Ramona and John Tremmel of Sioux City, and Rhonda and Gary Shatto of San Bernardino, Calif.; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Shirley Gamble of Kelling, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Philip on Oct. 3, 2004; a son, Cleo; six sisters; and three brothers.
