LE MARS, Iowa -- Christine "Tena" Gronemeyer, 98, of Le Mars passed away on Friday, Dec. 10, 2004, at Plymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Brunsville, Iowa, with the Rev. Dan Gerrietts officiating. Burial will be in Plymouth Presbyterian Church Cemetery, rural Plymouth County. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today, with the family present after 6 p.m., and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars.

Christine L. Miller was born April 29, 1906, in Western Plymouth County, Iowa, to J. George and Anna (Siebens) Miller. Tena was baptized and confirmed at St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church in Le Mars. She was raised near Ruble, Iowa and attended the Ruble School.

Tena was united in marriage to Arthur Gronemeyer on March 26, 1926, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sioux City. Following their marriage, the couple lived with her parents on the farm for two years and then moved to a farm in Washington Township west of Le Mars. Tena and Art farmed until Art passed away on Nov. 2, 1979. Tena continued to live on the farm until 2000, when she moved to Le Mars and made her home at the Plymouth Manor Care Center.

She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, where she had been an active member of the W.E.L.C.A. She was a charter member of the 4 Seasons Garden Club in Brunsville. Tena enjoyed gardening, playing cards, entertaining and spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Stanley Willer of Le Mars; three grandchildren, Brian and his wife, Heide Willer of Ashton, Iowa, Terry and his wife, Melissa Willer of Hinton, Iowa and Kimberly and her husband, Kim Elbert of West Bend, Iowa; and five great-grandchildren, Dane Willer, Dillan Willer, Tatum Willer, Taylor Elbert and Kody Elbert.

In addition to her husband, Arthur, she was preceded in death by a daughter in infancy, Betty Lou; and four brothers, Abraham, Eilert, Bart and George Miller.
