HINTON, Iowa -- Donald Edward Geddes, 85, of Hinton died unexpectedly Saturday, July 3, 2004, at his residence.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Leo Kostizen officiating. Burial will be in Rademacher Cemetery, Hinton. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services Tuesday, with the rosary by Rev. Craig Collison, at the funeral home.

Donald Edward Geddes was born Nov. 8, 1918, in Ponca, Neb., the son of Franklin Nagel and Cecelia (Rush) Geddes. Donald was raised in the Ponca area until he was a teenager, when the family then moved to Waterbury, Neb. He attended and graduated from Waterbury High School in 1937.

Donald married Delores Turman on Sept. 5, 1940. Delores passed away on March 30, 1971.

He married Jo Anne Francis Burnett on Sept. 5, 1973, at Hinton. Donald was a farmer almost all of his life and also worked at the Sioux City Stockyards for six years.

Donald's passions included his family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, auctioneering, dancing and his dogs.

Survivors include his wife, Jo Anne of Hinton; two sons, Steve and Susan Geddes of Hinton and David and Tony Geddes of Dewey, Ariz.; a daughter, Susan Albert of Sioux City; stepchildren, Craig and Susan Barnes and family, Kim Carnes and Sheila Nuss and family, all of Sioux City; three grandchildren, Scott and Sarah Geddes, both of Hinton and Heath Albert of Sioux City; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy Howard of Coronado, Calif.

In addition to his wife, Delores, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter; an infant son; and his parents.
