SERGEANT BLUFF -- Walter E. Lamoureux, 85, of Sergeant Bluff died Monday, Oct. 22, 2001, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Akron, Iowa, with Monsignor Richard Zenk officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Akron. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a scripture prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at the Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.
Mr. Lamoureux was born March 11, 1916, on the farm in Akron, the son of Edward and Amy (Rush) Lamoureux. He married June Elaine Douglas on March 4, 1957, in Worthington, Minn. They couple moved to Casper, Wyo., in 1957 where he was employed with the Wyoming State Children Home for 20 years, retiring in 1977 at which time they moved to Chapel. Neb. There he enjoyed doing odd jobs and carpentry work for all the older ladies in town. In 1995 they moved to Sergeant Bluff to be closer to family as his health was failing.
He enjoyed horses, carpentry and all the family especially the children which he liked to tease and have fun with.
Survivors include his wife; a sister, Madeline Bay of Glennwood, Minn.; a daughter and her husband, Kathy and Mike Suter of Casper; three granddaughters; a grandson; a great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews and lots of great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patrice Hanford of Casper; eight brothers, Nap, Leonard, Clifford, Charlie. Milford, Loyd, Bill and Bake; and three sisters, Victoria (as a child), Ella and Edna.
Pallbearers will be Bruce Lamoureux, Mike Suter, Sam McLarty, Kelly Johnson, Travis Yockey and Chuck Utesch.
