ORANGE CITY, Iowa -- Marie Elizabeth Lancaster, 87, of Orange City died Sunday, July 7, 2002, at Plymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars, Iowa.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at American Reformed Church in Orange City, with the Rev. Harlan Van Oort officiating. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City. Visitation will begin after 4 p.m. today, with family present 6:30 to 8 p.m., at Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

Mrs. Lancaster was born May 22, 1915, in Sioux Center, the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth (De Zeeuw) Wandscheer. She was raised in Sioux Center, attended Northwestern College in Orange City, and graduated from Westmar College in Le Mars. She was an elementary teacher in the Early Community School and Boone Community School. Later, she was the librarian in the Maurice-Orange City Community Schools.

She married Edgar Owen Lancaster on Sept. 25, 1942, in Sioux Center. He died Aug. 8, 1991, in Orange City. She became a resident of Plymouth Manor in April 2001.

She was a member of American Reformed Church, where she taught Sunday school and catechism classes and gave music instruction. She also sang in the choir and served as church librarian. In addition, she belonged to the PEO and the National, Iowa and M-OC Education Associations.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, James H. and Jean Lancaster of Ida Grove, and Jon E. and Sarah Lancaster of Madison, Wis.; a daughter, Jane Grosenheider of Le Mars; four grandsons, Ben Lancaster and his wife, Beth of Madison, Sam Lancaster of Manchester, Iowa, and Joshua and Jeffrey Grosenheider, both of Le Mars; and a brother and his wife, John and Martha Wandscheer of Kansas City, Mo.

She also was preceded in death by her parents and two infant sons.

Memorials will be directed to American Reformed Church for its library and choir music.
