CAUSE OF DEATH: from complications following a lengthy illness from cancer
DATE of DEATH: Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000
PLACE of DEATH: at his residence
DATE of BIRTH: March 7, 1938
PLACE of BIRTH: in rural Remsen
PARENTS: son of Louis and Lavon (Peters) Kappler
SPOUSE & DATE & PLACE of 1st MARRIAGE: Karen Dalton, in 1957.
OCCUPATION: He joined the U.S. Army in January 1958, and served in Wurzburg, Germany, during the building of the Berlin Wall. He was honorably discharged in October 1966. He worked for Lloyd Wolf and Al’s Grinding and Feed before farming on his own in the Remsen area. Most recently he drove truck for Klein Truck and Jaminet Trucking. They moved into Remsen on Sept. 13, 2000.
SPOUSE & DATE & PLACE of 2nd MARRIAGE: Lynne Richardson, September 1966, Elk Point, S.D.
SURVIVORS: include his wife; three sons; a daughter; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Curtis Kappler of Remsen.
PRECEDED in DEATH by: his parents; and a great grandson, Michael Saline in infancy.
PLACE of BURIAL: Remsen City Cemetery, Remsen, Iowa
