PLACE OF MARRIAGE: in Sioux City
OCCUPATION: He served in the U.S. Marine Corps for four years, stationed in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, and Camp Lejeune, N.C. He was discharged in 1952. He farmed near Moville, Iowa, for nine years before moving to their farm near Anthon in 1962. In 1985, he received an Iowa Soil Conservation Award. He retired in 1998. The couple wintered in Donna, Texas.
SURVIVORS: include his wife; two daughters and their husbands, Deborah and Scott Simmer of Brookeville, Md., and Donette and Jim Lyon of Herrick, S.D.; a son and his wife, Gary and Keri of Anthon; and eight grandchildren.
PRECEDED in DEATH by: his parents; two sisters, Annie and Minnie; and a brother, Otto.
