CARRIE A. BARNES

Funeral services for Carrie A. Barnes, 86, Huron, S.D., were held Aug. 18, at the United Methodist Church, Highmore, S.D.

Rev. Raymond Rush officiated with the Luze funeral home of Highmore in charge of arrangements. Burial was at Highmore City Cemetery.

Mrs. Barnes died Aug. 14, 1982, at the Regional Medical Center in Huron.

Carrie A. Husted was born Dec. 9, 1895, in Plymouth county to Albert and Martha (Fletcher) Husted. She married Melvin L. Barnes Feb. 13, 1918, at Mitchell, S.D. They were parents of eight children.

Her family farmed in Jerauld and Sully counties until 1955 when they retired and moved to Highmore. She remained in Highmore following the death of her husband until 1978 when she moved to Dakota Plaza at Huron.

Survivors are two daughters, Mrs.Virgil (Zelma) Dean, Sioux Falls, and Mrs. Kenneth (Zada) Brock, Lincoln, Neb.; four sons, Rollin and Marvin, Harrold, S.D., Raymond, of Huron, and Kenneth, El Cajon, Calif.; five brothers, Arthur of LeMars, Henry of Hawarden, Walter of Onawa, Wesley of Battle Creek, and Earl of Huron; 23 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons, three sisters and two brothers.
