MRS. HENRY KURTZHALS

LE MARS, Iowa—Mrs. Henry Kurtzhals, 95, of LeMars, died Monday in a nursing home in LeMars.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in St. Joseph Catholic Church in LeMars. The Rev. Francis Staber will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The Christian Mother’s Rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. Thursday and the parish Rosary at 8 p.m. in the Luken-Johnson Funeral Home at LeMars.

Mrs. Kurtzhals, the former Katherine Mertes, was born Oct. 16, 1884, at Exira.

She was married Feb. 5, 1908 at Exira. They lived at Carroll, Coleridge, Neb. and Obert, Neb., before moving to LeMars in 1929 where they farmed. They retired and moved into LeMars in 1944. Mr. Kurtzhals died in 1947.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Christian Mothers and Catholic Daughters of America.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Raymond (Jos) Treinen and Mrs. William H. (Philomena) Petersen, both of LeMars and Mrs. Melvin (Bertha) Hathaway of Miles City, Mont.; 11 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
