E. L. MANDELKOW

Emerson L. Mandelkow, former resident of this vicinity, passed away at Long Beach, California, on Sunday, April 8.

Mr. Mandelkow was born on September 3, 1897, at Struble, Iowa. On June 28, 1922, he married Lydia S. Sorenson at Mankato, Minn. In 1927, they moved to Lafayette, Minn. and lived there until moving to California four and one half months ago. Mr. Mandelkow was a retired farmer. He has been in failing health for some time and passed away at the age of 58 years, 7 months and 5 days. He died after being hospitalized for 6 days.

Survivors include his wife, Lydia; a son Willis C. Mandelkow of Lafayette, Minn.; 4 grandchildren; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.F. Mandelkow of Long Beach; 2 sisters, Mrs. C. E. Hilton (Minnie) of Long Beach and Mrs. W.E. Carpenter (Fern) of Spencer. Deceased was preceded in death by his mother.

Mr. Mandelkow was a member of the Lutheran church and the American Legion.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Mauer funeral chapel, LeMars. Rev. L.L. Belk will officiate. Burial will be in the Reading Township Lutheran cemetery near Marcus.
