Mary Ellen Iezzi, 61, of Sioux City died unexpectedly Thursday, Jan. 23, 2003, at her residence.

Services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Dr. Allen D. Call of First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mary Ellen Iezzi was born March 15, 1941, in rural Akron, Iowa, the daughter of Ben C. and Edna F. (Kleinhans) Frerichs.

She married Raffaele Iezzi on Oct. 9, 1971, in Elk Point, S.D. He died June 22, 1997, in Sioux City. Mary had been a tailor with various local businesses throughout the years, among them being Morey & Raymond's. She had been the owner/operator of Mary's Tailor Shop since December 1988.

She enjoyed her flower gardens, Bob Ross paintings, traveling and spending time with her family. She also found joy in watching the birds gather outside her kitchen window.

Survivors include a son, Anthony and his wife, Glee Iezzi of Eugene, Ore.; a brother Gene and his wife, Alberta Frerichs of Hawarden, Iowa; an uncle, Herb and his wife, Margaret of Akron; three aunts, Edna and her husband, Russ Marshall of Ireton, Iowa, Ella Frerichs of Akron, and Gerry Kleinhans of Cedar Falls, Iowa; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence Frerichs in infancy.
