MARSO SERVICES TO BE SATURDAY
N.M. Police Question Indians About Death

Funeral services for Edward Marso, whose body was discovered Saturday near Albuquerque, will be held Saturday, April 19, at the Wiltgen-Luedtke funeral home in LeMars at 1:30 p.m.

The Rev. Frank Patterson will conduct the service and burial will be in the LeMars cemetery, with military honors under the auspices of Wasmer post of the American Legion.

Edward Marso was born Oct. 10, 1920, at Hugo, Colo., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Nick Marso. The family came to LeMars in 1935 and he has made his home in the community ever since.

He is survived by his father, now at New Ulm, Minn., and a brother, Paul of Denver, Colo. The remains are expected to reach LeMars Friday.

Meanwhile, New Mexico state police, according to newspaper reports, have questioned two Acoma Indian brothers charged with slaying a New Mexico state policeman, about their possible connection to Marso's slaying.

~Note: Per other newspaper headlines dated Feb 1952 through Nov 1952, Ed Marso was slain on Feb. 6, 1952.

“His car, a 1949 Lincoln, was found burning east of Albuquerque, N.M. just off U.S. 66 early Wednesday, but there was no indication as to what had happened to him.

A check of Albuquerque hospitals, repeated Monday again, failed to turn up anyone answering his description.

Joe McCormack left for Albuquerque Sunday morning on his postponed trip, bearing a number of photographs of the missing man.

Marso was well known in LeMars where he was known as a good mechanic. He had done considerable auto racing with midget autos, and had also participated in some stock car races.

He is single and stays in LeMars at the Joe Schleis residence. He has a number of other relatives in the town and vicinity.

Mr. McCormack had employed him previously as a refrigeration mechanic in connection with servicing ice cream machines.” ~Quote from the LeMars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, Feb. 12, 1952
