OLIVE M. HUNNEL

Olive M. Hunnel, 91, of Rogers, Ark., a former Sioux City resident, died unexpectedly Saturday, July 15, 1995, in Rogers.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Christy, Smith and Hockenberry Morningside Funeral Home with the Rev. Gordon E. Riffle officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 9 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hunnel was born Feb. 24, 1904, Akron, Iowa, the daughter of William E. and Frances N. (Harkness) Brady. She moved to Platte, S.D., as a child. She received a teaching certificate at the Ward Academy in Academy, S.D. She married George I. Hunnel Feb. 24, 1923, in Lake Andes, S.D. The couple moved to Sioux City in 1924. She taught country school for two years and then worked at T.S. Martin Department Store for seven years. She also worked for Dr. Hirsch for nine years and for Sioux City Auto Club AAA for seven years. Mr. Hunnel died in January 1988 in Sioux City. She moved to Rogers in 1988 to reside with her daughter and son-in-law.

Mrs. Hunnel was a past president of the PTA at Emerson School in Sioux City. She was a member of the First Evangelical Free Church in Sioux City where she served as a deaconess for many years. She also taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Joyce and Carlton Buck of Rogers, Ark.; a son and his wife, Jack and Iris Hunnel of Storm Lake, Iowa; a sister, Whilma Klein of Mesa, Ariz.; four grandchildren, George, Gary, and Glenn Hunnel and Jaclyn R. Prince of Sioux City; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Pallbearers will be George, Gary and Glenn Hunnel, Don Glann, Cecil W. Brady and Dick Gorden.
