AKRON, Iowa -- Eldon Huff, 73, of Akron died Monday, Sept. 2, 2002, at Hawarden Community Hospital in Hawarden, Iowa.

Services will be 10 a.m. today at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Akron, with the Rev. Curtis Matson officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.

Mr. Huff was born Dec. 6, 1928, in Akron, the son of Russell and Ethel (Kerr) Huff. He farmed in Union County for many years.

He married Lorraine Hansen on June 2, 1950, in South Sioux City. In 1952, they moved to Akron. Beginning in 1962, he operated Eldon Huff Grading Service, operating a maintainer/grader.

He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Survivors include a son, Robert Huff Van House of Camarillo, Calif.; a daughter, Betty Ellen Evans of Sparks, Nev.; two sisters, Lorraine Gabbert of Minnesota, and Shirley Johnson of Arizona; a brother, Lawrence Huff of Arkansas; four grandchildren, Jackie, Leslie, Dawn and Michael; and a great-grandchild, Tyler.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Etta Huff; and his wife, Lorraine.
